Manga Studio 5– Don’t let the name fool you it is solid software. ~Steve James: Just have to chime in here- There is a great inexpensive software package that compares to photoshop. really like the variety of colour in the yellows ~Angie Jones: Art rage is perfect for traditional media artists wanting to go digital. ~Will Terry: Thanks Nor – but the web stuff can make for a deadly combination if combined with art…I’ll probably be the one wishing I had more skill in the end. BUT I’m slowly getting back into illustrating thanks to your online courses and advices. ~Nor Sanavongsay: Wished I’d stayed as an Illustration major in college. Then I posted this one and these are the comments… ~Cora Lynn Deibler: Beautiful experiment! Given that cake, yer a regular Wayne Thiebaud! ~Dyann J Callahan painting: with your finger on it? I don’t know everything about ArtRage so I posted this pic (see above) and another (see below) on FaceBook with the following caption, “Late night playing with ArtRage… wishing I had a slice of choc cake…” I did this in ArtRage See what others are saying about ArtRage Posted in Digital Art, iPad | Tagged ArtRage, iPad ArtRage, An Affordable Alternative to PhotoShop But, I am an illustrator and time is of the essence, so I usually work digitally now. Oil painting was fun, and still is, water coloring is very rewarding and the finished product of real paint on canvas is more valuable. I used to love to get my feet wet, or maybe I should say, my hands dirty with PAINT. When you have some free time, pick up your sketch book, iPad or what ever device works for you, and doodle, sketch, draw, paint. An artist should constantly practice their trade. The wet into wet or alla prima simulation is almost unnerving in how real it feels. I also like iPad painting for the ability to “dry” the painting so you can work on top of the thick paint you already put down. I like it for mimicking lush buttery oil paint without all the mess and clean up. Having good times and a lot of fun with the “ Artrage” app on my iPad. Digital sketching around on the iPad with the Artrage app.
